Project Description

The Blended Learning Initiative (BLI) will create a portfolio of courses and programs designed for dual use across multiple locations, consisting of:

  • 30 undergraduate courses
  • 1 new degree program
  • Bachelor of Business Administration
These courses will be available to students in two delivery modes:
  • Fully online by campuses & the World Campus
  • Blended courses taught by local campus faculty, mixing online & in-class activities

In addition to the development of courses, the BLI will explore pedagogical approaches to online and hybrid courses. In addition, the project will create a Faculty Community of blended and online instructors who can act as a resource for future course instructors, as well as provide critical input into policies and procedures related to blended course development and delivery.

Assessment of the BLI will be coordinated through the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence. The assessment team, comprised of representatives from a wide variety of colleges and departments throughout Penn State, examine the effectiveness of blended courses as well as student and instructor perceptions related to the blended format.
